Studio Florist and Online Shop Manager

 

SUMMARY

 

We are seeking a florist to become part of our flower fam, with a minimum two years’ work experience in the industry, who will be a part of every aspect of the studio, focussing on managing our new online shop.

 

This is a Monday to Friday job for an all-rounder with a creative eye, attention to detail, ability to work under deadlines and excellent communication. WILUNA is known for a distinctive, curated aesthetic, and our new florist will need to embrace and create in the WILUNA style unsupervised. Guidance and WILUNA aesthetic training will be provided.

 

As an event flower studio and online shop, our new florist will be involved in creating beautiful work in a multitude of environments in addition to the online shop, including event and installation work.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Managing the online shop, from taking an order, to creating, emailing, and problem solving

  • processing flower shipments, including cleaning and unpacking stock

  • ordering flowers and sundries

  • Creating an array of floral arrangements, including retail bunches and vessel arrangements, and event installations when required.

  • Receiving shipments, and prepping and processing flowers.

  • Client communication, both written and verbal.

  • Client consultation and quoting.

  • Working in a team, managing staff and the daily schedule

  • Supplier communication, including order flowers and sundries.

  • Some travel to Sydney for market purchases may be needed.

  • Local trips in your own vehicle to collect florals or sundries when required

  • Driving a van when required

  • Event work and on-site set up and pack down

  • Ability to work very quickly

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Floristry Certificate II or equivalent 2 years industry work is a necessity.

  • Knowledgeable about flower handling techniques, seasons, flower care.

  • Ability to work independently or in a team

  • Positive, loyal, kind and dedicated work focus

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.

  • A positive and upbeat attitude

  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines

  • Ability to work very quickly and consistently all day

  • Focus on sustainability

  • Good physical fitness (the job is very labour intensive and will include heavy lifting, running up and down stairs, long hours standing, and some early starts)

  • Available early mornings, some late evenings, and occasional weekends

  • Full driver’s license is required. This is non negotiable.

  • Completion of a Botany-related course is highly advantageous.

DAYS/HOURS

 

Monday to Friday, with occasional swapped weekend rotation roster. Flexibility is a must, with some early starts and late evenings. During Spring/Summer period additional weekend work may be required.

WAGE

 

To be negotiated based on experience and qualifications.

We are offering an initial 3 month trial period, with possibility of salary increase at the end of the trial which will move into an ongoing position.

Studio Assistant

 

SUMMARY

 

We are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic studio assistant. This position would be the perfect position for someone interested in working in a creative industry or busy floral studio, but without any existing floristry skills. We are currently in the process of growing our studio, and this position is perfect for someone interested in helping out with a little bit of everything. This is a position which has lots of potential for growth.

 

As our studio assistant, you will be expected to contribute to a multitude of tasks across the whole studio. Your main tasks will be keeping the studio clean and tidy, washing vases, buckets, tidying the room, sorting green waste, and organising our spaces with efficiency and pride. Other tasks will include: writing cards and tags, receiving deliveries and processing flowers, wrapping floral bunches, packaging and posting items from our online shop, responding to emails, ordering stock and stationary and assisting the studio florists. You may also be asked to assist with packing down events and unpacking floral deliveries.

 

PLEASE NOTE:

This is not a floristry position, although it has the potential to grow into something more over time. This is the perfect position for someone young, energetic and at the start of their working career.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Receiving shipments and processing flowers.

  • Studio cleaning, including sweeping, washing vases and event props, sorting tidying, handling green waste and recycling.

  • Writing tags and cards.

  • Setting up Pop-Up locations.

  • Unpacking floral deliveries

  • Wrapping dried and fresh flower bunches.

  • Prepping floral items for delivery

  • Responding to emails.

  • Client interactions.

  • Packing down events.

  • Deliveries and collections.

  • Driving a van

  • Wrapping and packing items for postage.

  • Some travel to Sydney for market purchases may be needed.

  • Managing rubbish, occasional runs to the tip.

  • Ability to work very quickly

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Year 12 Certificate preferable.

  • Patient, enthusiastic and willing to try your hand at a multitude of tasks.

  • Ability to efficiently clean, tidy, and think sustainably

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.

  • Organised

  • Available early hours, after hours, and weekends.

  • Due to the job being very physical, good physical fitness is a must.

  • Excellent handwriting and spelling.

  • Drivers license.

  • Ability to use Adobe Creative Suites such as: In Design, Photoshop or Illustrator, as well as basic experience in Excel would be considered highly advantageous.

 

DAYS/HOURS

 

Casual hours. Preferred set working days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, with regular weekend work. Please note this schedule may change based on season and how busy the studio is. Flexibility is a must, with some early starts and late evenings.

WAGE

 

To be negotiated based on age, experience and qualifications. We are offering an initial 3 month trial period, with possibility of moving into an on-going casual position.
